Sustainability w/ Judd Organic Farms
Our Original Stock (Black Angus) is from Nebraska and Kansas. Calves are born here in Sumpter, MI just south of Belleville. Cows are harvested between January and April - we have about 30 calves a year. The cows we are selling are about 16-18 months old which is the optimum age for Angus.
*Tip: Whomever you buy from, ask the age of the beef you are buying.
The farmer takes them to the processor Jerome's Country Market in the Irish Hills jeromecountrymarketllc.com <check out their web site. Jerome's is the best processor our farmer has found and they have worked with them over 5 years
Jerome's will call you with the weight and go over your cutting order. A half a cow is about 4 laundry baskets full of beef.
You are buying hanging weight (just meat, not hide or head, etc.) We do not know the weight until we bring the cow to Jerome's. If you want organ meat etc., let Jerome's know when you place your cutting order.
